Fill Out PDF Forms Online Without Uploading a File
Interactive PDF forms are everywhere — job applications, intake sheets, tax documents, consent forms — yet filling them by hand or hunting down desktop software is a chore. Our PDF form filler lets you complete a PDF form directly in your browser: it detects the interactive fields already built into the document, lets you type your answers, and hands back a finished file ready to send. Because the work happens locally, your file is never uploaded to a server.
How It Works
When you open a PDF, PDFMarkr scans it for interactive form fields and lists each one for you. It recognizes text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns, and radio buttons, and pre-fills any values the form already contains so you only change what you need. You type or select your answers, then decide whether to flatten the form. Flattening writes your entries permanently into the page so the values are locked and can no longer be edited — ideal when you are sending a final copy. Leave flattening off to keep the fields editable for later.
Step-by-Step
- Step 1: Select the fillable PDF you want to complete.
- Step 2: Type into the detected fields and set any checkboxes, dropdowns, or radio options.
- Step 3: Choose whether to flatten, then download your completed PDF.
Common Use Cases
People reach for a way to fill out a PDF form online for all sorts of paperwork:
- Job applications, onboarding, and HR forms
- Government and tax forms that ship as fillable PDFs
- Medical intake and consent sheets
- Invoices, order forms, and expense claims
For sensitive documents like these, keeping the file on your own device matters. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account to create, and no watermark is stamped on your finished form.
Honest Limitations
This tool only works on PDFs that already contain interactive form fields. Many so-called forms are really flat pages — a printed or scanned sheet with lines and boxes but no clickable fields — and a fillable PDF is a different thing entirely. If you open a file and see no fields detected, that is why. To type freely anywhere on a flat or scanned form, use the Edit PDF tool instead, which lets you place text on top of the page. If you need to add a handwritten-style signature, our Sign PDF tool is the right fit. There is no OCR here, so a scanned form will not gain fillable fields on its own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Only PDFs that already contain interactive form fields. The tool detects text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns, and radio buttons and lets you type into them. If a PDF is a flat or scanned page with no clickable fields, there is nothing to detect — use the Edit PDF tool to type text on top of the page instead.
Flattening writes your typed values permanently into the page and removes the editable fields, so the answers are locked and cannot be changed later. It is useful for a final copy you are sending on. If you want to keep editing the fields afterward, leave flattening turned off and the form stays fillable.
No. The form is detected and filled entirely in your browser, in memory, so the PDF is never sent to a server. There is no account or sign-up, and no watermark is added to your completed file. When you close the tab, the working copy is gone.
Not with this tool, because a scan has no interactive fields to detect and there is no OCR to create them. For a flat or scanned form, use the Edit PDF tool to place text wherever you need it on the page.
Text fields, checkboxes, dropdowns, and radio buttons. The tool reads any values already stored in the form and pre-fills them, so you only need to change the entries that apply to you.
